There is an old wives tale that says it will. But that is all there is to it. Crawling is not really even a developemental milestone that doctors check for. As long as baby is showing interest in it's world, and finding some way to be mobile, there is no cause for alarm. Some even skip the crawl/roll/scoot phase and go straight to cruising and walking. Each baby is different, and there are sooo many ways for them to explore. So, in answer to your question, no not crwaling will not effect a baby later in life.

No..they might not walk as soon depending on how they learned to travel. My niece learned to butt scoot instead of crawl. She has never in her life crawled yet at 18month. Shes developing normal. She did take a little longer to walk because she could butt scoot and carry juice cups/toys etc so she didn't really feel the need to walk soon. LOL.

Some babies don't ever really crawl - they go straight to walking. They turn out fine!

Some babies never learn to crawl and go straight to walking. My co-worker's daughter was one of them and she's fine physically and mentally.

No, a baby doesn't have to learn to crawl in fact it's proven that babies that don't learn to crawl, learn to walk sooner.

I never learned to crawl, according to my mother. One day I just rolled over and stood up. I'm doing OK so far.

My 18month old never crawled and neither did my 7yr old. They are totally normal for thier age groups.
Only one of my kids crawled and he's 8months and standing up already.
Every one is different :o)
