How 'bout an wildly powerful telepath who can control the minds of those around him? (Think of 'em as the most dangerous politician on the planet)
Heck... as dangerous as Sylar was - his game plan was strictly "in-your-face" physical confrontations... I think someone manipulating the scenes from backstage could be more dangerous than anyone who just wants to duke it out with you & open up your brain.

The last episode from last season was on last night. I didn't catch it the first time around, but Sylar wasn't on the ground at the end, there is a manhole opened and a trail of blood leading to it from where he had dropped. Looks like Sylar still has a little more to contribute.

Exactly. I'm worried a little about this one myself. It's a TV show, they *have to* abide by the FCC's broadcast rules in terms of content being censored or worse for being "too rough for television".
And the Sylar character *ate brains*. How can you do "worse" than that without going farther than what broadcast TV will allow in this more restrictive day and age? Even with movies, most Hollywood studios just *won't* make an R-rated film....they won't tolerate the content (which is why the new film _Live Free or Die Hard_ wasn't all that, because it got *watered down* for the PG-13 rating).
My humble guesses on the subject are:
--they will attempt to make a character who is a monster basically, inside and out. Someone whose mutations have disfigured or transfigured the person into something more beastial or alien or both. It *could work* if a) the new villain is shown to be as *smart* as the Sylar character was, and b) if the new villain isn't too clearly a CGI construct.
And I do have some *ideas* along this line, but....nah, I don't want to spoil anything for the _Heroes_ creative team. If I come up with an idea and spell it out, copyright applies, meaning they *won't* use it since it isn't *all theirs*. It sucks, but yeah, they're a big company, they *have to* be cheap with their intellectual property that way.
Or....
--They will attempt to pull the heart strings, go more sentimental like they did at the tail end....and make someone *monstrous* in a more psychological sense. Maybe someone ends up being a deeply disturbed *and abusive* parent. Or maybe someone is normally a *good person* by day, when they are awake (and/or fully aware) but by night ends up being a tormentor, someone who gets inside of people's heads when he's dreaming and tortures them until they go crazy.
Or some such. Going for something more in the vein of "personal horror" that can nonetheless be doable on broadcast TV.
What bothers me though, about all of this, is that from the cast interviews I've seen in _Wizard_ magazine and in other places....most of the creative people involved with _Heroes_ seem to think that the first season was some sort of "miracle", that people just got *lucky* and created a *perfect* show, as opposed to a really good one...
This has me worried, that the 2nd season hasn't even hit yet, and they're already talking down people's expectations, saying basically, "The first season was a little *too* good, we can't possibly *top it*." It's like they are *begging us* to let them off the hook, in advance, for making a crappy follow-up.
But it could all be a head-game too. ^_^ I doubt Jeph Loeb would stick around if the show jumped the shark and went to crap this quickly.
Oh....one thing *does* occur to me.
What would a Nemesis-type of character look like in _Heroes_? Someone who doesn't *mimic* your power so much as come up with something *better than yours* every single time? Or someone whose power is the *worst fear* of his adversary? As in, when Molly looks for him....he *sees her too*. When Sylar attacks him, his telekinesis backfires and he blows his own brains out....
Or when Peter Petrelli finds him....the guy gets amnesia and forgets *everyone* who has powers, rendering him powerless?
It's a concept....if a bit of a cheesy one. ^_^ Because again, the way you beat him is the way Sylar went down--by the *numbers* game, by teamwork.
But hey, what do I know? ^_^ Thanks for your time.

09/07 - As the second volume of Heroes begins, the fates of Peter, Nathan and Matt are revealed, following the horrible showdown with Sylar and Peter's uncontrolled nuclear detonation miles above New York City. As everyone attempts to move on, a new sinister force begins stalking and murdering Heroes. With the family hiding in Southern California, H.R.G. and Claire attempt to live as inconspicuously as possible. which proves to be easier said than done. Meanwhile, after landing in feudal Japan, Hiro meets his hero Takezo Kensei. Twins Maya and Alejandro Herrera hope to make the crossing into the U.S. from Mexico, in hopes of finding help with their deadly abilities. Dana Davis, Noah Gray-Cabey, James Kyson Lee, Ali Larter, Sendhil Ramamurthy also star. Nick D'Agosto, Lyndsy Fonseca, Cristine Rose, Barry Shabaka Henley, George Takei, Eriko Tamura and Adair Tishler guest star. Source: NBC
09/05 - "There's going to be an interesting channel of communication," said James Kyson Lee , who plays Ando. "I can't reveal what, but it's going to be such a great way of storytelling. What happens in one timeline may affect the other. For Ando, I think you'll see him spending more time at Yamagato. Does he want to stay there? Probably not, after experiencing all that he did in season one." [...] Hiro won't be the only one hopping through time. The first episode, titled "Four Months Later," will time-shift the entire story line. [...] One of the mysteries will be in the form of a new character, Maya, portrayed by Dania Ramirez. Maya is a super-powered Dominican on the run from the law with her twin brother. As for her special ability, Ramirez said viewers will have to wait until the show's Sept. 24 premiere. [...] "She's going north, Ramirez said coyly. "There's a lot of injustices she encounters in her journey up north. She's trying to get to the U.S. to figure out or find out what's happening to her. I can't tell you what it is, but it's cool. It's really cool." Source: Yahoo!
09/01 - Kaito Nakamura appears in this episode. Source: SpoilerFix.com
08/28 - "The eclipse is one of those secrets that we'll hold onto," writer-producer Jesse Alexander tells Wizard [Magazine]. "I wouldn't be surprised if Season 2 started with an eclipse. There's a scientific and spiritual significance for the eclipse to the specific 'Heroes' storyline." [...] "I would pay some attention to moppet mutant-finder Molly Walker and what she represents as an important clue as to where Season 2 is going," [Tim] Kring tells Wizard [Magazine]. "That'll be revealed pretty much in the season opener, but this idea that Molly Walker and Suresh's sister had similar ailments is a key part of where this story is going in the second season." [...] Writer Jeph Loeb says the unseen supervillain -- the one Molly says is worse than Sylar -- "will be dealt with right in the first episode of Season 2."
I don't know if any of these are true, since Heroes and Lost both have a habit of putting out spoiler "spoilers" to keep people from knowing what's happening; suffice it to say, whoever this is that's worse than Sylaris truly going to up the ante.
Six more Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I watched last night to make sure I was caught up.
