I would think yes. Single women think there is something worng with themselves..they start picking themselves apart whereas single men just do their thing.

It's more common on men for the mere reason that they suppress their feelings. Girls wouldn't mind releasing their depression through crying, talking it out with friends and family member. Most girls are even willing to consult a doctor to address their depression. In the case of men, it will take sometime before they get out of the denial stage.

There are a lot of people who use self-talk to handle what is going on inside their minds. When self-talk is not monitored cautiously it can lead to drastic effects not only on one’s personality but also affects its mentality and psychology. Self-talk is a type of conversation which we conduct with ourselves. In literature we call it soliloquy. Brain’s reticular activating system never forgets what we repeat again and again. Ironically this system can not recognize what is beneficial to the individual and what is not. Think you can, think you can't; either way, you'll be right- a saying goes like this. Therefore when ever we ‘talk’ with ourselves, we should be cautious, very cautious in fact. There are a lot of audio programs which can help and there are a lot of online books. If I recall there is a book ‘self-talk solutions’ which is every effective in this scenario.

I think more women have the sense to seek help for depression than do men....so they are more often reported for statistical analyses....but, I see a great many men that have an obvious depression and deny it vehemently, as though it were a failing on their part, so I don't think it is more common in women, I just think women seek treatment more often.

yes. single women are under more pressure whether in job family or to find a partner. single men on the other hand are much like grown up boys who generally ENJOY BEING SINGLE.

in general men get depressed on a single or particular issue like work problems, love problems, etc. which they can generally isolate from the other aspect of their lives. not so with women in general who take life in totality and hence are more liable to depression.

by nature men are ' programmed' or expected since they were children to handle problems whereas women are ' programmed ' from childhood to look for a partner hence, for a single woman, having a problem and not having her partner compounds her aggravation and leads more to depression.
in other words, for a single man, he may have a big problem but he knows he must solve it. but for the single woman, SHE IS STILL SINGLE like it is a problem in itself and she has other big problems.
