My sister gave me a bunch of hand me downs for my little girl. One of the outfits she gave me was given to her by her mother in law a couple of years ago and was never worn because it still has the store security tag on it. It is very cute and I would love to have it for my daughter, but can't get it off. It is a square black plastic with a little knob on it. It has a little hole in it for the "key". On the other side is a rounded silver solid button. Does anyone know any secrets to getting this thing off?

I can't take it back as it was bought a couple of years ago and her mother in law lives out of town.

Drill it off with a drill? An electric drill very SLOW. Drill where the hole is. It will HAVE to come apart then...

Find out where it was purchased from and take it back there for it to be removed. I bought a pair of pants for my husband once. The girl deactivated it, but failed to remove it. I did not notice it until I got home. Finally about a month after I bought them, I was able to get back to the store and have them remove it. Good luck.

If the original owner of the item still has the store receipt for its purchase, ask them to take it back to the store and have it removed.
