I have a 92 Chrysler New Yorker Salon 3.3 liter V.6 with about 200,000 miles on it. Believe it or not it runs great (rebuilt engine) except for the fact that for about a yr and a half it been giving me transmission problems (of course). I got a transmission tune up about a yr ago and it made it a whole lot better but about a week ago I've been noticing the decline in performance again. My question is what am I looking at in the average cost on how much it would cost for me to have this done to my car being the make/model/year. All answers will be appreciated. Thanks!

If your car has the 4-speed automatic (A604), then it's probably similar to the transmission in my Dodge Stratus (41TE), which cost around $2000 for a rebuild at 156,000 miles. That included new clutches, seals, a solenoid pack, other internal parts and the torque converter. Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouths from the early 90s (especially the K-car derviatives) seem to be pretty bulletproof in my experience.

One I think its definitely worth it. One of the cars I own is a '95 Chrysler Sebring(150,000 mile) and I had the transmission done on it and it continues to run great! I say do the work. The price to have it done varies depending on what parts are really worn and torn. The range is about $1,000 to $5,000. If you really love the car and its paid off I'd do it. Also if the body is well kept and so is the interior/exterior Im sure you can get another 100,000 miles out of it!

Look into a Chry. reman. They do a good job of manufacturing and they have a 3 yr. 36,000 mile warranty. They should run you around a grand. If you go with one from a wrecking yard and it's painted gray, then it's a reman. from Chry. and may also be a good chose, as used stuff goes.
