I got my oil changed the other day and now when the car gets good and warm/hot, it smells like burnt oil. Did they spill it all over or should I be worried?

Very possible. They might have dripped some and it fell onto the exhaust manifold. Check your oil anyway.

They may have dripped some oil on the headers, or they may not have tightened the oil filter tight enough. You might want to get the car hot and open the hood and look for signs of burnt oil. Also, be looking for oil spots under your car.

I would make sure you take it back and have them clean it off. Probably got oil in the frame. Also, you want to make sure you are not leaking oil from the filter etc.
Have them check it to be sure. If you are still smelling oil after a few days then there is most likely an issue.

you say days ago...any spilled oil should have dissipated by now unless they spilled like 1/2 quart which i would no longer go to that oil change place if i ever went to an oil change place. My guess would be they forgot to lub. the gasket on the oil filter and now you getting a leak when it warms up

A lot of times there will be some excess oil that drops onto the exhaust and will burn off. The smell should go away after a few days.

Check for obvious leaks, if you can not find any, is highly possible that oil was dripped on the exhaust manifold. If you can not live with the smell take it to a car wash and clean the engine. Or just let it burn off.

I like your name........

They may have simply spilled a little oil on the exhaust pipe/cross over pipe while removing the oil filter.

If it still smells bad after a day or two...take it back and ask the mechanic to double check.

if there was a bent valve ya'd know about it , if ya burnin oil and the exhuast is real smokey specially after start up it might be valve stem oil seals which wouldn't have been touched in a timing belt replacment or if its using water too ya could check the oil filler cap for a yellowey gunge if there is some ya head gasket is gone i doubt it was anything to do with the belt being done though , if the belt was on wrong the car wouldn't run ... full stop

sloppy tech didn't spray down the area where the oil came out after they changed the oil. It will eventually dissipate (burn off). I hope that there isn't a leak now. Have them check it for you
