I have a maytag side by side refrigerator that needs a water line ran from my basement to the kitchen. I have not had this done yet. In the mean time, Can I pour a bag of ice in the ice holder for it to dispense the ice?

Yes... bagged ice-cubes are normally smaller than your Ice-maker, and will work just fine.

We had to do that with my Brother's machine for a month or two until he got time to hook his up.

Basement to the kitchen ?? Normally, you can just tap the cold-water line under the SINK and run to your fridge !!

Good Luck !!

You should be able to use bag ice or freeze your own ice cubes in ice trays as long as the cubes are not larger than the ones the auto ice maker makes and they fit in the auger mechanism and through the outlet chute o.k.

if you break the ice up so it runs through the dispenser I don't see why not.

if there is a problem, just open the door to get the ice instead of relying on the dispenser to dump it out at you.

Ice dispensing machines make ice the required size for dispensing im not sure you wouldnt jam up the mechanism with improper size ice I wouldnt do it.

Yes, as long as the cubes are not too large for the dispenser.

Yes, I do it all the time. It will also crush your ice. I have done this for about 2 years since my husband has not got around to do this. I need to get on him for that.

Yes but you should be able to pretty easily! It may have to be fairly long, but you can get adapters to attach it to any water line… even a garden hose or a faucet!

you should be able to, provided the ice cubes are not too big.
