Heres my problem... I have a flag and I have a pole. The problem is the pole is about 13 feet tall and I cannot get to the top of it. We are using this for tailgating this season and would like to hang the flag at the top, but we cannot climb the pole (its a light pole fixed in the ground). We used to stretch and use zip ties to loop through the flag holes and around the pole but we used could only get the flag about half way up... Any ideas on how to rig something to make it easier to put the flag up and take it down?

Take a ladder to the ploe and attach a pulley to the top of the pole and run the rope over the pulley and secure it at the bottom of the pole. Attach clips to the rope on which to hang the flag.

Is this a common sense test question ? Since you mention tailgating, I'm guessing it is a pole that you attach to your vehicle?

RIG it so you can take the pole DOWN, attach the flag to the TOP of the pole, and then put the pole back UP !!

If you want to get TRULY tricky and efficient... Take the pole DOWN, put a pully at the top of the pole, a cleat at shoulder height, and then run the flag up a halyard whenever you wish !!

Get a ladder, buy a small pulley block for flagpoles, buy some rope, attach the block to the top of the pole, run the line through the block and tie the ends together, buy a couple clips for flags and incorporate those on either side of the knot. Attach your flag with the clips and hoist away.

a ladder, a couple of friends holding it and a small pulley plus some rope. An eye hook about 3 feet from the ground and you are in business like the big boys and their flag poles. You can do revelry in the morning and raise the flag. Good luck with your project

I would attach a pulley at the top of the pole, size the pulley to the cord and attach the flag to the cord then you can run it up and down like any other flag pole.

Personally, I'd use a ladder.
