We are the royal valley panthers and we are playing the maur hill ravens. Any ideas?

There is no theme. We are a small 2a school. Our floats always bash the other team and the unmotivated junior class is struggling for ideas.

Hmmm... no Theme to your homecoming ? I always laughed at the Themes that a committee of cheerleaders / jocks came up with, but at least it was a starting point.

I designed / built 3 themed homecoming floats:

1982 (Junior year) Theme was "Halloween", our slogan was "82 will Boo You"... I designed a 3 story haunted house... 2x4 frame with plywood platforms onto which we attached "stage-flats" (1x3 frames covered in sized muslin-fabric). This all sat on a large flat-bed, with stairs to the ground, a large cauldron on the back with witches stirring the pot... a honda generator to power some effects lights and the PA for spooky music.

1982 (Senior) Theme was "Rock & Roll"... Our CLASS had an MTV theme... using the same construction technique. I built a HUGE Boom-box, colored that Ferrari-red that was hip back then.... the speakers actually held HUGE concert/ PA speakers... the radio held the PA system, and on top of the Boom-Box were dancers...

1984 (sisters Sophmore year) Their Theme was "Parties thru History", her class picked "Roaring '20's". Again using the same techniques... we built the inside of a '20's speakeasy... they also got use of 2 Model A Fords !!

ALL Three of my designs won the schools award for best-float.

ONE thing to always try to do is get costuming to match your theme... TRY to avoid the chicken-wire and toilet / crepe-paper technique.

ENLIST your theater geeks !!

GOOD LUCK !!

Down the side of your float write "And the raven was Nevermore". This is a play on words from Poes "The Raven" but you could use it for your float. Have a stuffed panther, a person dressed as a panther or a football player in his panther jersey taking apart a stuffed raven, person dressed as a raven or a jersey to look like the ravens jerseys with a bird head. Have fun with this.

you could stage it like quidditch. Your school vs the panthers and of course they will lose. Your school mascot can wear harry potter glasses and have a scar.
