I don't usually answer P&S, but I'll answer this one, because
I think it it is an "intenteligent" one at last.
Many people answering questions on here, are experts. I
have seen Dr. Phil, answer two questions so far. He is
pictured with his name underneth, and labeled "official."

Other people, like myself, are trying to help people in a very
positive way, with answers they know, from experience.
If I was to die. And my answer helped change someone's
live in a very positive way. I feel I would be leaving this world
"knowing." I did my job. <}:-})

If I am extremely knowledgeable and experienced in those areas then yes, I would consider myself an expert. That is if you have a question about shakespeare, utopia, the 50s, emt related stuff, dying hair, makeup, piercings, or clothes then I am the person to talk to! Otherwise I google the Q for the person (since soooo many people on Y!A seem incapable of doing this!) or give my opinion and best advice.

No. Even experts don't know everything about their subject. I try and give an honest answer from my experience or from my personal knowledge of others experiences. I give my opinions and hope that they are taken as just that, my opinion. I tell people who ask medical questions to seek the advice of a professional.

No, but I do believe that everyone has valuable knowledge in one field or another. As a college grad, I have often worked with those who have GED's or less. They are often smarter than I think I am. If someone knows the answer to a question, then I will be the first to show appreciation for their input.

To a certain extent. It is hard to be certain when I don't know the true circumstances. But then, neither does Dear Abby. Life experiences qualify me to answer a variety of questions. I know what I have dealt with or witnessed with others. Some times it only takes common sense to answer the questions.

no, but people asking on Y/A rarely expect expert answers.

Not really. Unless it is something I know ALOT about, even then though I know that I don't know everything. I just try to give resonable advice that will help someone or at least make them feel better.
