Your mom is right...13 is way to young!! I have tattoos I got when I was 18 that I wish i had waited on...your personality changes, and even if you swear up and down that whatever you want is something you will love forever...you may be wrong. Like it or not you are going to change in the next 5 years...put that tattoo idea on a back burner, if you still love it in 5 years then by all means get it.

No, your mom is being reasonable. I wanted my first tattoo when I was about your age and my Mom declined. When I turned 18, I got my first one. Eight years and eight tattoos later, I love all of my tattoos.

Besides, the vast majority of parlors around here won't even let someone under 18 into their shops, let alone their chairs.

Until you're old enough to get a real one, you can get henna which can last for several weeks. There are also temporary tattoo paints that you can get. It's a fun way to mess around, express yourself, and show off your creativity without doing something that you'll regret later.

Nope.

Until you're 18 you really have no say in that matter.
Plus, she may be doing you a favor... typically what you want as a tattoo at 13 won't be what you want later on in life. I know what I wanted certainly wasn't what I ended up getting when I *did* hit 18. Just be patient and really think about what you would get. If you end up liking the same idea that you have now 5 years down the road - then chances are you'll be happy with it later.

Good luck.

No, she is not being unreasonable. In many states you have to be 18 before you can get a tattoo in the first place. Also, a tattoo is permanent. What seems really cool to you at thirteen might be embarrassing to you at 21. If you really want a tattoo, I recommend waiting several years. If you still want it, even as your circumstances and personality change, then go ahead.

You're way too young for a tattoo. I decided I wanted a tattoo when I was 15, and 11 years later I actually got the tattoo. Give it ten years. If you still want a tattoo at 23, then go for it. There is no rush to get one now! You're still growing and your body will change a lot before you reach adulthood.

No not at all. I know allot of people who regret tattoos when they are older, especially the ones they picked out when they were in high school. Your taste and personality change so much when you young still...what you love now and want for a tattoo isn't what your going to want when your 25. I love tattoos and piercings but I'm getting my first tattoo this year. I wanted one when I was younger and am so glad I didn't get one back then. Back when I was a kid I would of gotten a butterfly or fairy or something like that (that ever kid in high school got). Now I have a daughter and I want her birth sign, name and birth date on the back of my neck. Its going to be allot more significant then the girly thing I would of chosen as a teen.

Your mother is absolutely right. At 13 you are too young for a tattoo. Tattoos are permanent (only removed by laseres) so whatever you put on your body needs to be something meaningful. At 13 you are too young to understand the meaning of forever. Wait 5 more years till you can do it without your parents approval.

No! You're 13. Grow up. There's a reason that you have to be 18 to get one- or with parental consent. Besides, do you really want something on your body right now, that you'll have forever? Think about it long and hard, then when you're 18, if you still want it, go and get it. In the meantime, leave your mom alone. She's doing what's best for you.

Sorry no she isn't your still at an age where things you like change dramatically over the years and your style will too.

13 is way to young to have a tattoo. Im seventeen and did't get my first one until last year and even then I took plenty of time deciding want I wanted to get so that i would know I would never end up regretting it.

wait a few more years.

No Carla, your mom is not being unreasonable at all. If I were your Mom, I wouldn't let you pierce or tattoo your body either until you had reached the age of majority and make your own decisions about your body. What if she allowed you to do this now to yourself and you hated it later - you would say "Mom, why didn't you stop me?" and you would end up blaming and resenting her.
