It has little to do with how much a person knows. A person's IQ is a (poor) measure of a person's analytical ability. It reflects mostly one's ability in recognizing patterns among words and quantities.

I have a high IQ. So did every one of my classmates in high school. Even today, it is the only way you can prove your worthiness to take the competitive exams for entry into that high school. I don't think it makes you less compassionate or caring towards people. I spent 25 years caring for the sick and the wounded. It does, however, make you seem "different" to others. It can also reduce your circle of friends if you do not resist the temptation to bury them in trivia.
Because of that general societal reaction to high intelligence in adolescent years, you find yourself on the outside looking in. Looking in at the "cool group". It's only later in life that you find members of the "cool group" still walking around with their high school sweaters on while they wonder why they never got higher in life.

It's a test that measures a persons intelligence quotient, it's supposed to reflect an individuals capacity to learn, innate intelligence. If you ask me, it just shows how well a person is at taking tests.I'm not saying that because I performed poorly on the IQ test either, I tested very highly. I still think it's baloney.

In a general sort of way and IQ measures ones lack of empathy. The more cerebral one is very often the less in touch with their sense of humanity. This is not always the case but very often.
Personally the more involved in text books and schematics I become the less interested in people I become...
