I've done many rectal exams. Although erections are not common in my experience, they do occur. Also, by pressing on the prostate, you can cause fluid to pass through the urethra. Urologists do this all the time, especially in men with prostatitis.

I'm 43 years old. I've gotten a yearly complete physical, including a prostate exam, since my early 20's. The prostate exam has never caused me to ***. In fact, it's never even caused me to get an erection. I've read about guys getting hard and some even ejaculating during the exam. But, I don't know how frequently that actually occurs.
Let me tell you something. There's nothing that may happen to you during that exam that hasn't happened to some other men, before. Your doctor (if he's the professional he should be) will not react with shock and awe about anything. His responsibility is to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Just try not to worry about this particular issue, man. Go have your physical. Have the prostate exam.....by all means, do not defer it, because of your anxiety. Worst case scenario, IF you do get an erection and ***.....atleast you've had the exam and aren't running the risk of having undiagnosed prostate cancer!

Most guys are nervouse, uncomfortable, and cold. The doc generally isn't attractive and the prostate check is done with icy hands you will more than likely find the prostate exam to be more unpleasant than pleasant. No worries there.

No, this rarely happens and it has not happened to me.
The doctor is not in there very long at all.
Some guys do get erections but this too is very rare during a physical.

This is not common although it may happen if you have not ejaculated for some time and your tubes are full if fluid. There is a blood test for this now so you may not have to experience it.

The doc is right. It's not the most comfortable procedure and can at times be embarrassing, but no need to be. They've seen it all before.
