UCLA Police Taser Student For Not Showing ID

RELATED: Americans To Be Tortured For Refusing To Show ID?

Comment: This is like something out of a horror movie, you can hear the guy screaming and begging not to be tortured as they repeatedly hit him with the Taser shot. Tortured for not showing ID in America, this is what "serve and protect" has come to mean.

LOS ANGELES -- A cell phone captured video of a 23-year-old student being administered multiple Taser shocks by UCLA police on Tuesday.

The UCLA student was hit with the Taser shocks multiple times while he was in the Powell Library Computer Lab.

Another student recorded the incident on a camera phone. On the video, Mostafa Tabatabainejad can be heard screaming during the incident, which took place at about 11:30 p.m., the Daily Bruin reported.

According to the paper, Tabatabainejad did not show ID to community service officers who were conducting a random check. UCLA police said Tabatabainejad was released by police after he was cited for obstruction/delay of a peace officer in the performance of duty.

The Daily Bruin reported that Tabatabainejad complained when an officer was escorting him from the lab and put his hand on one of Tabatabainejad's arms. He allegedly yelled, "Get off of me," according to the paper. He was then shot with the Taser, reported the paper.

The Daily Bruin reported that after he was hit, Tabatabainejad yelled, "Here's your Patriot Act, here's your f---ing abuse of power."

Police said they thought Tabatabainejad was not harmed in the incident.

"If he was able to walk out of here, I think he was OK," the sergeant said

righteousjohnson-- he didn't tell them to **** off until after they tasered him, I'd imagine if someone pain is being inflicted on someone for no valid reason then they would be upset about it

claudiacake, he didn't begin screaming till they tasered him, And this is not another country.. this is America.. please save it with the happens in other countires references... we are supposed to be a free country... He wasn't posing a threat to anyone or even disrespectful to the police until they tasered him

no true American would put up with this kind of assault on a citizen for asking a question. Go live in your third world country and you can look away when a wrong is done to someone to save your own ***. In this country we stand up for our rights or we lose them, and that's already the case post 9-11 because everyone prefers the illusion of safety to real honest freedom.

Ya know what the sad part is, where I live I can walk into a government office without showing any ID, or having my bag inspected, ex rayed, etc, or my body searched, or given anything more then a hello by the half asleep guard.

At the college there is no police thugs, no police I have ever seen.

I have never seen a person getting roughed up where I live by any authority.

I have never heard of a college student, or anyone getting harassed by any authority.

I am treated with respect by those in authority.

The only place I see security camera's are in banks.

I never fear a knock at my door.

I can walk out of my apartment at midnight, walk to the store and not fear getting mugged.

I never carry identification.

I have seen small groups of people, probably families, yelling at each other over some unknown issue as the police sit by in the background making sure it doesn't get out of hand.

I am an ex pat from the USA living in the Peoples Republic of China.

Now is that fugggged up or what?

===============
People here have explained why it is ok to taser the man, while he may have broken a few minor rules, the inhuman behavior of the police thugs makes me glad I got out of dodge.

How dare those people call themselves free.

Peace

Jim

I hear where you are coming from. Here is what you do. Ask her what she would like for lunch that your going to make a special lunch and sit down together and explain that this is "your home too", but there has to be some rules in my house so it can run more effectually. I don't want to give up my dog. you need to limit the items in the refridge., or we can put your items in a box in the refridge and they can be all together. Try to work together and solve problems and that way it will be less anger in the household. I know it's sometimes hard to get along with the in-laws but you have to find a way. she might not can get into a nursing home if she has to stay with you. They are expensive.

Hey what do you know, if you resist the police they will use force including use of a taser. Understand that the video does not show what intiated the response from the officers. You can however hear in the video the officers informing this student that if he failed to cooperate they will use the taser.
I don't think the police tasing him 3 times constitutes brutality.

Additionnally this happened just about a year ago.

Ah and the Beat goes On. Congress and Senate Won't Secure the Borders and want to grant amnesty today in The Dream Act to the same People that over stayed Vias or just outright entered Illegally. Makes You wonder if this has become Russia or The People's Republic of China doesn't it? Does anyone Remember the Students at Kent State, The Chicago 7, The Civil Rights Movement? It's becoming a Nightmare again.

This is not going to be the popular response, but I don't care. The young man in question, according to the article, pulled away from the officer who was escorting him from the lab, and began a tirade of yelling and obscenities. At that point, he began an aggressor. He had the option to accompany the officer and clear everything up, but he chose not to. Let me tell you this: In another country, he might have been shot with bullets, not tazers. People need to get off the backs of our law enforcement. They are trying the best they can to keep our people and our environment safe. You who will screech about how abusive they are, are the first ones who will be screaming for an officer when something happens to you, or wanting to sue someone because they did something to you that was "against the law". You will "civil rights" this country into a quagmire of lawlessness.

It sounds like alot more was going on than just a simple refusal to show some ID.Look,,I'll put it to you in plain terms. If you don't comply with the officers instructions then expect to be treated like like a criminal. He was combative and would not obey the officers instructions. And so you know,,in the not too distant past that guy would have been beaten down with billy clubs.(Remember Rodney King?)I think a little shock was alot more human than leaving bumps, welts, bruises, contusions and abrasions on a persons head and body. And you have the nerve to defend this guy and call the officers' actions torture!!!!GIVE ME A BREAK.!!!!!Welcome to dicipline and the rule of LAW!!!.

That comes from the fear fostered by the right because of terrorism. Everyone must show ID or be considered a threat to the speaker or other celebrity. When one does not cooperate action is taken.

I also wonder if the protester had been protesting one of the GOP if some one here who express their disapproval would be saying the same thing or would the hypocricy continue?

Maybe next time he'll show them his ID.

The lesson to be learned here is that when your name is Mostafa, and the cops ask you a question, don't yell at them to F*** Off.

Your indignation is entirely appropriate, but this thing has been hashed and rehashed for several months. I knew about this last November when it happened.
