my laptop refuses to start at all. When the start button is clicked, it gives a black screen with white writing that says there has been an error starting up and gives 4 different options on how to start up. All three options end up displaying a bunch of code then freezes when clicked. The last option restarts the laptop then displays a blue screen that discribes the error, but this only appears for a few seconds so reading exactly what it says is impossible. Has anyone experienced this before? I would really appreciate any kind of help..

well if its still under warranty you could take it to a local hp repair center, i know circuit city does it and i think best buy does it. They should be able to take a look at it and might even be able to do work on it if its still under warranty

Without the details of the four options and the information on the blue screen it is difficult to guess. Try editing or reposting with more detail.

Depending on the erros, it could be a corrupted Windows file, a bad hard drive, or other hardware that has died.

Reinstall Windows. If that doesn't fix the problem, you've got something wrong with the hardware on your laptop and should take it to a shop for repair.

your HP laptop has a recovery partition , refer to the manual that came along to make the recovery.

Most likely you will get it back in factory condition that means all the softwares and documents will be lost.

first step would be to use the recovery disk that came with the computer. if that doesnt work, get someone who has a windows disk to install windows into your computer.

Try this !
---------------------------
start up in safe mode (F8)
go into the following folders and delete all the contents including folders in there

open windows explorer

kill everything in them, spare NONE !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp\*.*
- delete all files and folders in this directory !
-----------------
C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\*.*
- delete all files and folders in this directory !
-----------------
look for suspicious programs or something dont look right in here
c:\program files\*.*
- then delete that particular file/s and/or folders in this directory !

C:\windows\temp\*.*
- scan and view anything that looks odd (maybe delete)

and then empty RECYCLE BIN
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After that scan for virus and spyware if u have the program/s.

Then restart in normal startup and see if this continues. If it does then I strongly and urgently request you to reinstall your Operating System

Then when u get connected to the net

download
http://firefox.com and use this instead of Internet Explorer
