Depneding on the method used, a Gig is either 1000 or 1024 mb.

So three times that is 3000 or 3072 mb

Doesn't matter, you will lose some to the bottomless pit. If you are looking for a couple hundred, forget it. The correct answer: HD manufacturers use 1000 GB, PC counts 1024 GB, and then windows saves some for a rainy day and housekeeping.

There are 1024 megabytes in each gigabyte.

There are 1024 KBs in a MB.

And there are 1024 bytes in the KB.
