Women increasingly complain about how hard it is to find good men that are willing to commit. Also a lot more men are delaying or avoiding marriage all together.

Of course women will blame men for this, but isn't it really because women don't offer men enough these days? Why else are so many American men marrying foreign women who are more traditional?

I think for the greater good.. women need to be more introspective and look at how their behavior is shaping things as well.

There are several reasons. Men getting the raw deal is one, the other is that some women have high standards and consider only a small pool of men and there arent enough lians to hold onto for everyone ^.^ . Sooo women are raising their standards with even less men willing to marry.

you say..."I think for the greater good.. women need to be more introspective and look at how their behavior is shaping things as well."

TWO people unite in marriage - think about it

I am glad to say that I am the apple of my husbands eye and he of mine. Our union is the best thing that has ever happen to me! I only hope more people (yourself included) will find someone special to share your tears and laughter with!
Not to say that we have not gone through our rough times... every healthy relationship will. Working through these bad times is what MAKES a marriage.

Hum... perhaps the decline is due to "lazy" relationships? not enough people are willing to work things out and make things work. (not talking of cheating... never happen in my relationship and I think it is terribly wrong) Allot of my friends relationships are like this... "if its not perfect, its wrong and I need to find someone else" - couldn't be farther from the truth!

toffefan - more men should be like you... you know what women too!

She now has another relationship and has about 4 holidays a year, he on the other hand cant afford one, because of child support. His advice to me never get married EVER.

I think less men are getting married because we as couple are realizing that we can live together without being married and be just as happy. Then..if the relationship ends...there is no needing to pay for attorneys. It just works!

If things remain as they are with the domestic violence laws, child custody, divorse and the male suicide rate (linked to the above), I will make it my mission for my son not to get too deeply involved with a woman that he will have kids or get married. Maybe when in his mid to late 30's he may be better equiped to be raped by the system.

Any man getting married or having kids these days is a complete fool and men and boys are starting to realise that.

Avoid having kids or marriage and then all you need to worry about are the selfish or gold diggers or cheats or the unscrupulous.

I just hope my son also avoids false rape, false domestic violence and being murdered by a woman because she can get away with it.

toffefan tell your wife she married a real man!

Okay my answer. WHAT RAW DEAL?

The only thing women need to offer in a marriage is the commitment to build a life together. I would say many women are avoiding marriage cause they do not want to work, care for themselves, their children and still be expected to care for the husband. They don't want that burden. If they want children, they have or adopt them.

What do men offer women? ""I think for the greater good.. men need to be more introspective and look at how their behavior is shaping things as well." If they want a housekeeper they need to hire one and not expect to marry one.

Yup. This is a documented phenomenon:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriage_strike

A 'marriage strike' is the social phenomenon of men seeking to avoid marriage. The 'marriage strike' specifically refers to the action of men living within the Western world. Advocates of the marriage strike believe that after a considered cost-benefit analysis, the legal contract that is modern marriage no longer represents an attractive option for men living in the West's changed legal, economic, sociological, cultural and demographic environment.

Advocates of the marriage strike hold that through the combination of laws permitting no-fault divorce and prevailing conditions in divorce courts that are substantially more likely to favor the wife over the husband in disputes over child custody, visitation rights, ownership of the family residence and other shared property, child support, and alimony. It is possible for a woman to divorce her husband unilaterally while simultaneously depriving him of the right to see his offspring and financially crippling him. They argue that since the divorce rate is high, and since women are more likely than men to seek no-fault divorce, scenarios like the above are a likely outcome of marriage, and that many men, fearing such an outcome, choose not to marry. There have been numerous studies showing that a range of 60 to 93 percent of no-fault divorces in the United States were initiated by women, usually against a man who works a blue-collar job, for grounds cited as "emotional unfulfillment."

This sort of thing:

Might also have something to do with it.

I think marriage rates are falling because religious influence is getting weaker. I don't think this explains it 100%, but I think it is defintely a factor.

It is not that women don't offer enough (otherwise, men wouldn't be forming ANY relationships), but rather that the institute of marriage doesn't offer much any more. Marriage is no longer necessary to have a committed relationship.
