Assume you're in a hurry as usual. You run into the grocery store, grab the few things you need, rush off to the express lane. Two people in front of you is a young woman buying basics like milk, bread, eggs, baby formula. She finds that she doesn't have enough money, turns red and starts to cry and get flustered. You're really in a hurry. What would you say or do? I'll tell you what I would do, later.

I'm proud to "know" y'all! I would do the same thing - calm her down, and pay for the groceries. I'd also ask if there were other things she needed but just didn't have the money for, and see that she gets what is really needed. Often in our hurried lives we forget to look out for these types of opportunities to give someone a hand and let them know someone cares.

LadyG, I think you would know what I would do & it is the same as you. I bet you have even done this more then a time or two as have I.
I may think (at the moment) that I am in a hurry but the world (& my life) are not that rushed to stop & reach out that helping hand.
When folks have been in need & try to pay me back, I just tell them to pass it on.
Love those warm & fuzzy feelings.
Thanks for the question

I would pay for the groceries.
Actually I have done this...for a young mother. And for an old pensioner. And an extra couple of bucks to help a middle aged man buy all of the groceries on his list.
When they say "How can I ever pay you back?" you just tell them to pass it on. If they are in a line with someone who can't afford to pay his bill, then remember this and help HIM.
I have had absolute assurances that they would do this!

Been there, done that...pulled out the dollars, paid her bill, and moved on in life...not knowing whether I had been conned or not...no big deal, at least I made it through the line in time to get some dinner on the table.
Now, if I am in line again, and the same thing happens with the same lady (it happened to me one time in life), I was not so kind. But in general, we all have been in this situation at one time or another, and I do not think that the person is pulling crap. It cost very little to do a nice thing for someone who is in need at the time. Big deal. Love and peace, Goldwing

Step up and pay for her. If I had cash on the way out of the store I would look for her and try to pass her a twenty of whatever had to spare at the moment.

Oh without a doubt I would pay for her food without hesitation.
I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping others.
It is such a wonderful feeling, that I have no words for it.
Besides, at one time in my life I was this woman.

I'd move to a different line. However if I knew that she was in the military, or her husband was serving the country, I would pick up the tab.

Well I have had that experience several times and I just quietly pass over what she needs because a few times it was me needing the help!!! What goes around comes around.

I would push her out of the way and in passing drop a bag of spuds on her head!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO BE REALLY NASTY 'COS I WOULD NEVER DO IT IN REAL LIFE!
Of course one would attempt to help her in whatever way one could. There but for the grace of God.
And I'm sure you don't have to tell us what you what do Lady G - you big ol' softie!
