It depends on the price of the meal. Usually 15%, but if the meal is under like $10, I would still give at least $3. I never go below three...Also it depends on the service, if he or she is not attentive or slow, then I wouldnt tip as much as if someone actually did a good job.

I have been in the hospitality buisness for 15 years, If she is a great waitress definitely 20% of your total bill, if she was ok then 15%, and if they were just incredibly terrible at least 10%. The standard tip is 15%, but if she was great and made your experince terrific, make her day terrific and tip her more than 20% I guarntee you will put a smile on her face for the rest of the day. There is'nt anything that makes a waitress's day better than a outstanding tip! Believe me I know, if it were not for those wonderfull tippers, I wouldn't have the I love people attitude that I do.

10-15% based on service only...

I don't tip waitresses based on quality of food. If the meal was excellent but the service lousy, I'll talk to a manager...both to commend the chef and 'rat out' the waitress/waiter.

If the reverse is true and the service was good, but the food sub-par, I'll increase the waitresses tip to 20%+, but talk with the manager re: the quality of his food and chef.

I normally tip 20%. I also try to, when adding it together round it up to make an even amount.
If the meal with tax and tip is 20.14 I would pay 21.00, giving more of a tip.

We have gotten bad service plenty of times, which then I give a nice tip! I say, we understand the people before us put you in a bad mood, but that doesnt mean the rest of us need to be punished. Sometimes they smile and change their attitude. But, there is lots that even get meaner and they end up with NO tip!

$1 per person at a buffet.
10% if the server was bad or messed up our order
15% for the average server.
20% If you accomodated my allergys, or were great
20% if the place has busboys and cooks who share in the tips.
If you were a horrible server like my last steak house experience and forget our drink, dont give refill's and have to come back and check my order twice cause you cant read your own writting, I leave you 2 quarters and send the rest of your tips to Ronald Mcdonalds house.
At sonics I tip a dollar plus what ever change I find in my Console. Usualy about $2-3 total.

Ussally 20 percent for normal service
more if the service is great.

No offense to waiters and waitress - I know it must be a hard job and you deal with alot of bad people

You should not allows expect a tip if you are rude
and the service you provide is terrible.

15% and then I round up to the next even dollar. For a buffet I will leave 10%; the waitress doesn't work as much in that case.

If the service is really really horrible....and this has only happened to me like twice ever, I leave a penny or a nickel; I don't want them to think I "forgot."

Normally 20%. On small bills (like lunch), I sometimes go higher than 20%

However, If the service (I won't penalize the waiter for bad food) is really bad, I will cut back the tip accordingly. I am pretty forgiving, so the service would have to be pretty bad but it has happened a few times.

As a waitress myself i always like to give 10% but usually at least £5 if its an evening meal.

Don't be afraid to give less though if they don't deserve it. If the service hasn't been up to scratch they should know.

Normally, 15%. A rude waitress gets nothing, an incompetent one gets 10%, and a fantastic one gets 20% or more.
