Sorry, but no. There are only about 11 games left and not enough time. The Tigers technically are 3 1/2 games behind the Yankees, but 4 back in the loss column. There's no way the Yankees lose four more than the Tigers the rest of the way. Besides, any team that has the lead in their division at the break, then has to rely on other teams beating a rival, doesn't deserve to get in, especially when they blow a 5-1 lead in a game they have to win. Man, that had to be devastating when Blake hit that ball out.

As a fan of any team you have to hold out hope, you have to think that your team is going to pull through in the 23rd hour to make it in. In reality it is looking bad, the Tigers are up and down right now, the Yankees are flying right now so they are going to have to grind it out, they need to yank on the Indians and Casey Blake hurt their chances a lot yesterday. There is still a chance and since you are a true fan I am flad to see that you are not throwing in the towel. Anything can happen at the end of the year...ask long time Philles and Red Sox fans; they know all about falling flat in the last few weeks.

Yes, both teams play against division rivals for the last games of the season. The Yanks play every team in their division besides the Red Sox. The Tigers, besides the Indians. One of those 3 game series is against the Minnesota Twins who you have just swept. I know KC can be swept along with Chicago (I am a Sox fan). I guess you're going to need to hope that the D-Rays, O's, and Blue Jays can win the series against the Yankees. But keep in mind that all of these teams want to play spoiler so they may try extra hard. So yes, but it will be difficult. It ain't over till it's over.
And Don't Stop Believing!!!!
Who doesn't like that song?
Good luck to your Tigers!
Better Detroit than New York!

Tigers have no shot at the division. Saying Cleveland is famous for late season meltdowns coming from a Tigers fan whose team almost choked their way out of the playoffs last year is funny. Tigers simply have not gotten solid pitching and the Yankees are starting to get some timely pitching and now all of the sudden have a better bullpen than does Detroit.

The Yankees are playing every game like it's game 7 of the World Series...although it would be nice to have one year where the Yankees weren't in the post-season I don't think this is the year. Yes, I predicted that the Wild Card would come out of the Central and the Yankees would be golfing in October but the way they have played lately has definitely changed my mind.

Sorry Georgie but I think it is too late. The Yankees are rolling and the Tigers aren't doing their jobs. If I were you, I'd start preparing for next April. Sorry.

No chance in hell. With all of the smack you talked about the Yankees, I am glad to see Detroit done for the season. With Verlander's big choke giving up 4 home runs, the fork has been put in you. You're done!

I won't give up hope until the last nail is in the coffin. Last night just about killed me, though. I have had a nagging depression all day and then I remember why. I still have hope, though. Just not as much of it as when they were up 5-2 last night!

I hope so, depsite the fact that most Yankees fans are so deluded and think everyone is rooting for them, I would like a team that didn't buy their way in. I think Detroit has had a great season the whole way throug as well, were the Yankees just started playing a month ago.
I would like the Indians to clinch the division first though.
