A more elaborate version of the question:

You had to vacation in Heaven and then Hell for six months each. Before entering the human dimension of the earth again, the 'gate-keeper' of earth asks you whether you would like to keep the memory of your vacation or forget all about it. What would you do?

Remember: If you want to remember Heaven, you'll remember Hell, too. If you want to forget Hell, you'll forget Heaven, too.

I would simply tell the gatekeeper to keep my memories of it.
And If I may, I want to take the vacation to hell first then afterwards to heaven. 6 mos of suffering, hatred, your already dead & still you can feel the pain and agony of being in hell.
After 6 mos of suffering, I get to enjoy in the presence of God for 6 mos. Wow, what an experience, walking in the street of gold, where the walls are made of all kinds of precious stones. No more famine, no more pain, no more crying, no hunger, no thirst, everything is complete. Bonus is, you get to talk to God our Father for 6 mos.
This experience will change all your perspective in life, value what most matters to you & ignore what not important.
The best question ever.

First of all, I don't believe in that particular version of heaven and hell, as if they were 'places' ones soul goes after death. I believe in a much more inexplicable afterlife, involving an eternal spirit.
So! in response to your question on whether I'd like to remember a 'vacation' in heaven and hell, and was asked by the gate-keeper of earth if I'd like to remember my vacation... I would tell said gate-keeper, 'No, thank you very much!' and go on my way, presumably back on earth.

I would gladly choose to remember both. If I remembered only heaven, then living on Earth would be a hell in of itself. It I remembered only hell, then I would likely become ignorant of the suffering of others around me. The knowledge of the two though would give me something to work towards, and away from. To me, heaven and hell are not actual places we go when we die, but rather allegorical representations of the two extremes of the continuum we place this world on. Knowing both extremes, we know why we should work to better this world.

Would want to remember knowing we’d forget most of the bad stuff anyways and the few memories that we cling to from hell would likely end up been very very valuable to us here on earth. Don’t think we’d want to remember heaven but snow well.

I believe heaven and hell are metaphors for the reality of our life in the present. So do I want to remember my life, do I want to remember the moments when the good/heroic/lasting triumphed over the mundane/cowardly/fleeting? Yes. Yes, I do want to remember.

of course i would want to remember. while I was there, I think I might ask a few questions, like "why are you here", to see the answers...strive to be like the heavenly ones, while trying to avoid doing what those in hell had done.

My personal perspective is that Life can be heaven or hell, depending on our outlook.

yeh, i'd keep the memories. i have memories which make me tremble...i've been almost as close to hell as i can imagine, and i cherish those memories as much as i do the memories of 'heaven'. the terrible times made me a better person. the good times, many of them, would not have happened had i not been through the bad ones.

I would personally not like to have nightmares of hell, just to have the memory of heaven, it would make my life hell!
