I'm gay and my sexuality's always a laughing matter in class. Sometimes, it really hurts me but i just ride along with them. They're always teasing me and i usually end up getting humiliated in front of everyone. I tried talking to them in a serious way but they're just too hard-headed and annoying. What should i tell them the next time they make fun of me?

I think many of us went through the same thing. Just keep your head up. You can't say anything to them that will make them stop. They do this to overshadow their own insecurities. THEY are the ones with the problem.

Just find friends that like you for you and hang with them. Keep your eyes on the target of graduation. Once you leave, things will be better. AND....most of these loser jerks will just end up married with kids by the time they are 19 or 20....and then their lives are over.....you will make something of yourself!!! Then....who will have the last laugh, huh?

If your classmates made fun of you because you had acne, you'd go to a doctor to cure it, wouldn't you? Have you considered seeing a therapist? Wouldn't having a girlfriend and being a part of the crowd seem preferable to living with shame and humiliation? Only YOU can perpetuate a change, before it becomes an irreversible condition. They will continue to tease you, because frankly, the thought of two boys kissing and "doing it" grosses most people out! You CAN understand that, can't you?

The Low Road: make fun of their ignorance and incivility. Or tell them how CUTE they are and that really aggressive, abusive partners turn you on! Then wink at them. Of course, that may get you beaten up so...

The High Road: ignore them and find your own group/support system that will accept you for who you are. When you tried speaking with them was it as a group or one-to-one? Speaking with them as a group you probably have little chance to shift their mindset, but speaking with them one at a time without others to encourage their bad behavior, you might have a greater chance of success.

In life, there will always be people who feel the need to make light of your sexuality. Take comfort knowing you're better than they are and can accept THEM for being the stupid, insensitive clods they are. You won't be able to change them in all likelihood so you must change yourself.

Ignore what you can.

However, your school should have zero tolerance for harrassment. Speak to your teacher or principal privately about enforcing this policy. School should be a safe place for everyone.

Also, consider starting a GSA or PFLAG group in your school. This will give you some allies who are willing to stand up for you.

Roll with it. Laugh when you can and turn it around on them when you get the chance. Throw down if you have to. You've got to draw a line somewhere, and make that line very bright indeed. For gods sakes don't go crying to the principal or any teachers. That WILL get the crap beaten out of you. Toughen up. You'll be ok.

Then they're thinking that you are abnormal? Then what about them, they have the same sex as you. Just ignore them.. or you might as well tell your form teacher. And if that didnt help, go straight to your school principal! You can say that you are bullied. Its a strong sentence...

tell the principal!! i'm serious. it may seem lame, but you should tell. most schools now have ZERO tolerance for potential hate crimes, and sometimes kids that are verbally abusive will become physically abusive and it could be dangerous for you...

i would seriuosly tell a teacher or principal because it doesn't always end at words and you have to protect yourself. kids are crazy nowadays, and i'm hearing more and more in the news about hate crimes committed against homosexuals, and many of these cases are teens!!

Ignore them it will only make it worse. Just be happy with who you are and realize that most people that make fun of gay people have issues of thier own, so its a good chance some of those folks are gay and just jealous that you are out.
