unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do. If tums or rolaids don't work, you'll have to try to adjust your diet and figure out what foods make it get worse. Soda, coffee, chocolate, spicy and acidic foods can all be troublesome. Also, if you can sleep slightly reclining, that can help. (either in a recliner chair or pillows behind your head). The weight of the baby and the hormones of pregnancy cause this problem. I had it with my first and third pregnancy really bad and a bit with the second. You may want to try eating 6 small meals a day instead of 3 regular ones as well. If you decrease the amount of food in your stomach, you increase the chances that the sphinctor that holds your stomach contents in will work. Try not to eat a few hours before bed as well. I know it's awful now, but it will get much better when you have your babe in your arms. Best of luck.

I am an RN and when I was pregnant I was told to take PrilosecOTC which is over the counter and you can get it without a prescription. I would think that vinegar would make your heartburn worse especially because it is so acidic. The Prilosec doesnt work immediately but it will prevent the heartburn from occuring, you can also try Gaviscon if you think it is just indigestion. But either way i would definitely take the PrilosecOTC.

With my first, I lived on Tums. With my second, it was Mylanta. Like the above poster said, there's a lot you can take for heartburn in pregnancy. Good luck!
I edited to add that my uncle has heartburn severely and he SWEARS by Apple Cider Vinegar. He said that that's the only thing that consistently makes a positive difference. He takes either 1tsp or 1Tbsp every morning. He said if you can get it down (b/c it tastes really nasty) it's so worth it.

If you don't want to call your doctor, you can call a pharmacist. They're usually pretty good at recommending things, and they have the same list the doctors have, showing which drugs are A, B, or C levels for pregnancy.
Hope you feel better.

You can take pepcid ac chewables. The amounts of magnesium and other elements are generally low enough not to cause any type of complications and they are actually a good source of calcium.Just make sure to only take one at a time and space them apart at least 4 hours. Congrats!

If in doubt, ask a pharmacist. They have all of that info at their fingertips...it's all on the drug list. Drugs are all classified on there, and they can easily tell you which antacids you can take, etc.
