Today on J/K he laid into a mother who'd dis-owned her 12y/old daughter and after thinking about it I think he was a bit OTT, yeah she was a scumbag mother but do programmes like his REALLY HELP

Can the effect of being paraded on TV cause more problems than it cures?

I hate Jeremy Kyle... he's such a smug b*stard! He keeps going on about people getting off their arses and getting jobs when most of his audience are jobless and at home watching him.

They help entertain thousands of jobless people. You have to understand that the purpose of programs like JK and Springer isn't to help the guests but to help their target audience realize that even though they live in a trailer, have no job, no money, they can at least take comfort from the fact that they aren't as low as the trash on the TV. It makes people feel good about themselves and that is why these shows are popular.

As for the guests, they know what they are letting themselves in for and at the least they get some free therapy from Graham (who is a genius ladies and gentlemen)

He is merely a poor mans English answer to Gerry Springer, he should not be dealing in peoples lives, I prefer Tricia, she never lets anyone loose face, or attacked, people that appear on these programmes, are rarely very bright, and have a lot of problems, Jeremy just magnifies this, for television ratings, I think he is a nasty piece of work.

Did you watch him with those children, they are very good at judging people, not one of them was comfortable with him smarming all over them, if they had not got enough problems as it was!

Jeremy Kyle, and others like him, know that he can make money by stirring up emotions. He is preying on other people's faults. He is probably slotted for daytime tv because you haven't anything better to do at that time of day than to watch TV you are asking to be told what to think and how to feel.

The mother surely needed to be told what a piece of sh*t she was disowning her own kid, Jeremy is a tw@t, as we all know, what gives him the right to take the moral highground anyway?

Yeah programmes like JK do help, the guests get a free all expenses paid mini break to Manchester, and after filming they have the option of continuing their fame by appearing on Trisha, or selling their stories to Take a Break or Thats Life! lmfao

I think they do help them a lot after the shoes been filmed, like organise professional counselling and give them advice. But yeah you're right, Jeremy does lay into people he doesn't agree with, i think he forgets sometimes that he isn't a professional, he's just an ordinary bloke giving his opinion! So they're not gonna take much notice of him

People should realise that when they go on these shows. If she had disowned her daughter at 12yrs old its basically saying she doesn't want her. If you cant look after your children you shouldn't have them. Dont just pass them onto someone else to deal with. I love Jeremy kyle he speaks what he thinks which is uncommon now.

lol to be honest i haven't watched it for a while, when he first stated he was really good and enjoyed the show ,but it's become a bit samey now,how many times can you go over the same topic , to answer your question though does it help their problems , maybe for a week enough time to spend the money on booze after that they will get back to the usual fighting sleeping around etc lol

There are lots of bad people and lots of people with gen probs that appear on that show and no matter what i think about the show , i have to feel sorry for each and every one of them because after they have had their 15 mins of fame, they have to contend with people in the street and their neibours whispering about them after they get back home again along with people jeering and laughing at them..... and to finish of i will say that most of his show is bad for people but if you watched yesterdays show you will see that he made ill kids dreams come true... so there is a bit of good in the show...

I didn't see the prog you are referring to but I have seen JK behaving in this way before - he's just playing to the cameras to make his show more interesting, the man is a self satified, patronising arsehole but the folks who go on his show haven't got guns to their heads so as far as I can see thay all deserve eachother.

Maybe but no-one puts a gun to these peoples heads and frog marches them on stage. They are there because they 'contacted the show' and are happy to air their dirty laundry on tv in exchange for a fee and a night in a Manchester hotel. Some people are easily bought.
