I watched part of a football match on TV last night and was surprised to see fair play, no nasty tackling, no dramatics when the players fell over and no bad behaviour. It made a pleasant change. Oh, and the footballers were all women. Why can't men behave like female footballers instead of spoilt brats and ruin the matches they play?

Because men retain many of their child like instincts. They are spoilt and so they do what spoilt children do. Cheat, shout, have tantrums and cry.

It's only a partially fair question, as the women's' game is quite a different kettle of fish to that of the men's. Like it or not, the men's game is played at a faster rate, and there is more intentional body contact, which is usually where the 'fair play' factor is brought into disrepute. The women's game is a little more tactical and positional, due to the lack of pace, and the lack of willingness among females to get involved in a more aggressive contact situation.

I am also sure that once the women start earning the kinds of sums of money that the men do, then a slightly less attractive element of the game may start to creep in...

A very funny and appropriate question!

Women prove their athleticsm by playing well and focusing on moving the ball towards the goal.

Men prove their athleticism by trying to impress women with their fighting ability.

Some of the other answers to this question have been interesting. Name a 300 lb. soccer player, please? Also, I don't think it has anything to do with money or competitiveness. I've seen low-level mens' recreational games dissolve into bloody fistfights, and I've played in very competitive and tense women's matches that had little or no petty bickering, shoving, retalliatory, tackles, etc.

Because men get paid the big bucks watch a college game and you might not feel so strongly about that and besides not to put it out there like that but us girls don't hit near as hard as those guys do so when you get hit just right by a 300 lb dude you might get a little jostled too!

because their matches dont mean much. For example a male player has much more pressure to perform well becuase of the hugh salaries.
