No offense but "Going Rate" is a relative phrase.

On a large commercial crew also the Hangers are not strictly the Finishers.

Beyond that; some contractors base a final price of size of an area and number of sheets; while others charge hourly.

My personal way to go is $25 to $40 per hour; often including finishers and/or hangers depending on who I choose. To do it myself the bill would likely still be $40 per hour.

Depending on cuts that might equate to 6 sheets per hour to hang; then to "finish" is often a 3 stage process; and certainly takes longer to complete to prime/paint stage.

With no offense at all to "hangers"; a decent "finisher" should command a higher rate of pay.

In central CA i get 2.95 for walls 1/2" and up just to hang. Texture will cost 25-35 cents a sq ft with a min charge (sq ft.)
