No I wasn't surprised as it was written about originally in The Love You Make by Peter Brown many years ago. I also read a quote from George once when he was asked why he did it and he answered something like "incest I guess." This is the first time that it's been spoken about in detail by one of the people involved though. It was a bit shocking I suppose, but none of them were faithful really, Ringo included. Ringo and Maureen, and George and Pattie all stayed friends even after their marriages ended. Ringo was even at Maureen's bedside when she died.

Yes I was shocked! Until I read Pattie's book, I hadn't heard that. Maureen turned out to be a lousy friend. Pattie Boyd's book was absolutely fabulous. It filled in alot of blanks about events that happened back then. I'm still stunned by the fact that both George and Eric eventually cheated on Pattie. I mean, she was incredibly beautiful and inspired the most passionate songs from both George and Eric. To have them treat her so callously later on, was sad to read. It's another example of how drugs and alcohol ruin people's lives. I'm glad Pattie rose above it all and is still alive and kickin'!

Not as shocked as I was to find out that their road manager and subsequent head of Apple Corps, Neil Aspinall, had a relationship with the mother of their original drummer, Pete Best, and fathered her child Roag, who now plays in the Pete Best Band. Aspinall's relationship with Mona Best lasted until 1968, long after Pete was kicked out of the band.

This is all summed up in the first verse of his song, 'Isn't It A Pity':

Isn't it a pity
Now, isn't it a shame
How we break each other's hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other's love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn't it a pity
