Yes, she was deceitful but the gods made her that way; in later, kinder interpretations, her curiosity.
Pandora was a woman made by the gods. She was taken to Epimetheus by Hermes. He made her his wife, against his brother's advice. Pandora came with a sealed vase. Her husband was tempted and opened the vase from which came all the troubles, weariness and illnesses that mankind is now burdened with.

I ever read 'bout this... Um, Pandora is somebody who got cursed by Gods in the Olympic. The Gods threw Pandora to the earth and they also bring Pandora a box that may not be opened. When Pandora open it, all the curse and disaster get out from the box. It named Pandora box. I don't know what Pandora mean easily but I think you're quite smart to make a conclusion from my history.
Good luck!

Pandora was a very nosey person that was to watch over a box and never to open it. And thats like telling a child to not touch a big red button so she opened up the box. Inside the box was chaos and despair and she released it on the world. Pandoras box is nothing but heartache and drama if opened and pandora is a very curious person that disreguards everything for the sake of knowledge.

In Classical Mythology. the first woman, created by Hephaestus, endowed by the gods with all the graces and treacherously presented to Epimetheus along with a box (originally a jar) in which Prometheus had confined all the evils that could trouble humanity. As the gods had anticipated, Pandora gave in to her curiosity and opened the box, allowing the evils to escape, thereby frustrating the efforts of Prometheus. In some versions, the box contained blessings, all of which escaped but hope.
In astronomy, one of the named moons, or natural satellites, of Saturn. Also known as Saturn XVII (or S17), Pandora is an irregularly shaped (nonspherical) body measuring about 71 mi (114 km) by 52 mi (84 km) by 38 mi (62 km); it orbits Saturn at a mean distance of 88,050 mi (141,700 km) and has an orbital period of 0.6285 earth days. The rotational period is unknown but is assumed to be the same as the orbital period. It was discovered by a team led by S. Collins in 1980 from an examination of photographs taken by Voyager 1 during its flyby of Saturn. Pandora is more heavily cratered—with at least two of the craters being more than 18 mi (30 km) in diameter—than the nearby moon Prometheus but exhibits neither linear ridges nor valleys. Pandora is the outer shepherd satellite (a moon that limits the extent of a planetary ring through gravitational forces) of Saturn's F ring.

Pandora's box is an example of censorship. They only wanted the children of the future to know a few of the world's evils, since they thought they might try to comit the crimes and evil acts they knew about.
They didn't want witchcraft in Greece.
There was a Mexican codex on "witchcraft" that Father Landa didn't throw in the fire! Anybody met any witches lately?

In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman.
Zeus ordered her creation as a punishment for mankind, in retaliation for Prometheus' having stolen fire and then giving it to humans for their use.
She is most famous for having brought with her a jar (or box) containing all the world's evils.
She releases these evils, but closes the jar before Hope can escape.

Pandora was created by Zeus, to punish the mankind because he was mad at Prometheus for stealing the fire and giving it to humans. And she caries a jar that has all the worlds evil in it. She opens the box to release evil but she closes it before hope can escape.

I don't understand your question, but Pandora is a figure of Greek mythology, who was given a box, she wasn't allowed to open. When her curiositu got the better of her, she did open, and doing so she released all kinds of evil, disease, etc., in the shape of bugs, like wasps, etc. Upon the world. At the end of the story one more bug was released, a moth representing hope.

other people have answered this question well - but - if you are trying to find out what the name "Pandora" means, I can help you there -
"pan" = many
"dora" = gifts, precious things
therefore, the name Pandora means "many-gifted", i.e., talented and blessed.
if you read the other answers, you can work out why the gods named her this - but her name is also meant as a sarcastic comment on what she gave the world.
