Seriously, these people just believe that whatever is on the radio is 100% of rock.

To those 2 posters (or posers) after Fonzie...who told you rock is dead. I for myself am enjoying a new album leak that brings back the energy of rock that the "emo"/"Nickelback clone" scene has cloaked away from a lot of people.

For someone like me who is heavily into music and knows that there is a vast amount of Rock out there and anyone who says they've heard it all is a liar. As much of a music fan that I am for every album I've heard there's a hundred I haven't heard .....yet.

In my view if you think Rock is dead then you're either not into music that much to begin with or are too damn lazy to search for new music, your not gonna find it listening to MTV or the radio and that's pure gospel!

I've been hearing it for the past ten years so it would have to be an unqualified yes. It also seems that the ones who do the most crying know the least about rock. You are correct in that radio is the only source for most individuals. My message to the whiners; get satellite radio or some magazine subscriptions but just shut the F up already, it's old.

Yes, it is far out of hand these days. Anyone that makes a blanket statement like that obviously doesn't have the depth of perception to realize that absolutely nothing about art will ever die. Even rock music. As you touched on in your question, the "rock is dead" whining could be the result of a narrow frame of reference, namely that of commercial radio. All one has to do is pick up, for instance, any recent Supersuckers album to see that rock & roll for its own sake is still alive and well.

It's definetly not dead. It's just all the mainstream stuff is garbage and most people who say rock is dead haven't discovered the amazing undeground Progressive scene, cause trust me, Rock is living quite well with Porcupine tree and Dream Theater.

rock isnt dead, it may have changed alot in the recent few year (no i am not calling emo rock) and it certainly not played on the radio as much as it used to be, i wouldnt say this is because it is less popular now-a-days just that technology has given us different ways to listen to the music that we like. rock still lives on but has evolved into a slightly different sound, but for any type of music to survive it has to evolve and go through changes, so no, there are not mant band like Queen, Led Zeplin, Deep Purple so on but this is a sign that rock is keepint up with the technology that music is now using, listen to these bands if you want rock Reuben (an massivly underrated band but soon to be famous for sure http://www.wordsfromreuben.com/2007/news.php) for the more punky side of rock you can still get the political meanings with bands like Rise Against (another underdog but continuingly getting bigger and bigger with each release http://www.myspace.com/riseagainst) and for the heavier side there is people like machine head and slayer, who have been around for ages and still bang out music like they always have (http://www.slayer.net/site.php
http://www.machinehead1.com/)

so no, i strongly disagree with the statement rock is dead, rock is very much alive and always will be

yes....people need to realize that the radio is what is dead. I swear how can they listen to something that plays the same 20 songs over and over and over. Seriously, they would realize that rock isn't dead if they were in fact real rock fans.

Rock is NOT dead. REAL rock will NEVER die. The problem is you have to look for it because radio and t.v. is clogged up with indie and emo bands that mistaken for rock bands.

I kinda think that happens all the time we just have more exposure because of the internet. At least every couple of years for as long as I can remember someone has written off Rock. Disco tried to kill it but they forgot to cut off it's head. It just comes back stronger.

Of course Rock is still alive!

It's all in my music collection ~ which I listen to every day!

As long of those of us who know what 'Rock' really is keep listening to it and loving it, it never dies.

I, for one, haven't heard anyone saying that recently. During the annoying boyband period of the 90s, yeah. but not lately. Lately, I've been hearing *rap* is dead. Even some hip hop artists have been saying it.
