I don't understand if the press is just ignoring her or whats going on here.

Not just her, but most of the Bush Admin is being featured less and less in the news. Look at the lack of reaction to the new Attorney General appt. - sort of like "Who really cares". Most of these guys are just riding out their "lame duck" time - some went ahead and quit early so they could move on rather than just wait around for the time to run out on the hourglass. I think everyone is speculating and looking forward to who's going to be everyone's replacement in '08. I know I am. It's really been a long and dreary four years, IMO.......

Yes, there is a difference between Stupidity and Ignorance. While the press may me accused of one or the other at times, they are not Stupid. Condi is in a Lame Duck Admin and as such is more than LAME, in fact HER POSITION could be called a Dead Duck. The press knew that it was past time to quit KICKING a Dead Duck.
Now, on to Condi the PERSON, she will return and continue to give her best effort in whatever assignment she takes.

She's been found out. I think it is now generally accepted that she has been the worst secretary of state the US has ever had. There was much made of her academic ability 7 years ago but that didn't mean she had any political nous. She had never heard of Al Qaeda when she was warned they were planning attacks on the US and her naivete is one of the reasons why the september 11 attacks were successful (people in the administration said this, not me).
she is keeping her head down (as is President Primate, mostly) and seeing out her disastrous time.

I saw a film clip of her, just last night, on the TV news. She called the prime minister of Iraq to apologize for some civilians that got killed by a private security force.

A good question. At the time we need diplomacy to avoid the use of military might, she is AWOL from the job. AWOL seems to be a common problem with the current administration.
