Our belief in God may be initially brought about by the influence of religion, but once it takes root, the belief itself gets beyond the realms of religion or rituals.

I do not need religion to prove my belief in God. God is everywhere, what would become of us if we did not believe that indeed he existed? I do not want to be an Atheist like some people I know, and does not find any comfort, when a problem arises.I believe there is someone who cares about me, and my Family and for that I feel secure.

Many people need outward religion as reinforcement, not so much belief. The closer one comes to God in real faith, the less religion one needs. Many religious people are not very godly or pious in the true sense. They use religion for selfish purposes. Like anything else, religion can be abused.

God is that which nothing greater can be thought and as such cannot be equated with any finite reality, even those forms of life that have as their purpose the service to the deity (religion). Religion is not a "proof" of God's existence, instead it is a concrete expression of how the particular claims of revelation are practiced as a way of life.

We need religion to prove our belief in God. Belief is faith. Wiithout Faith there would be no religion. If there were absolute proof beyond a doubt there would be no reason for faith or religion. Proof removes the need for faith.

hee hee topper of a question. I think since days of old and long ago God has consistently had to point out that he is religion proof. There are countless examples (ten commandments for example) were god has had to assert the position. I think (and yes it is only my opinion) since the beginning, Eden, Adam, Eve and the forbidden fruit spring to mind. There is for me a distinct line between spirituality and `organised religion`. There was a time when religion was needed for the expression of the spirit. hypocritically though, I still attend Chapel for completely selfish reasons. I take from it whatI need for me, and its not the only religion I take reference from albeit for my self though. When it comes to having proof of God, I often think that it`s only a persons interpretation of what or who god is that feeds the doubt. If we freely accept in our hearts things we know and believe through our own intuition, then surely by the same intuition we do not need proof. The most wonderful sight I have ever witnessed is the birth of my children (gifts from god) How could I doubt anything after that?

I think it is most certainly possible to have belief in god without the structure of religion. In my opinion, religious institutions and traditions can sometimes inhibit one's personal connection with god.
Besides, is there any possible way to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt to someone what you personally believe in?

Faith needs personal conviction not outward manifestation. If we base our belief on what we see on different religion..we would just be disappointed knowing that some of those who lead them are not practicing what they teach about GOD.
Every little creature on earth is a living proof that there is GOD!
