Open the pattern up, and cut the pieces you want to make. i.e., pants or top. Cut them away from the rest.

Place on your material, checking the arrows on the pattern. If it is a stretch material, you will have to fold your material in a different way.

Place pattern on top, and pin at different intervals. So it does not move.

Cut on thick line, and mark the lines which are separated.

Most patterns give you an example as to how to fold your material. Check that first, and check what materials they recommend you use. You will find it on the pattern.

Follow the advise of these people unless I don't understand you. I make my patterns for our quilts, my wife makes her patterns for herself and our grand daughters. We have a large shop in our basement with sever sewing machines and sergers.

Patterns are as much as fifteen dollars, more then the material so, we just make our own, it's cheaper.

I agree it will be like paint by numbers for you to do, knowing what you do. I'm curious as to why you would go to a pattern after doing your own so long. I would think you could
also, follow the pattern. Incorporating what you normally do.

If you usually use your own this should be a piece of cake for you. First you have to figure out all the pieces that go with the item you are making cuz a lot of the pieces will be for other items pictured and sometimes different sizes also. then cut them out and the rest you know. happy sewing . love to myself.
