Hey, I have been as harsh on Moose as anyone but nobody would be happier than me to see him back in form for the playoffs.

You've got to set a roster for the playoffs. Tough choices will have to be made. The Yanks can't bring 14 starters into the playoffs. Kennedy has been great so far, but we have no idea how he will handle a big setback. If he gets shelled in his first playoff outing, will he be able to come back. I would feel more comfortable with a guy that has over 200 victories on the mound, assuming he is pitching well again.

Because he was the Old Moose in his last start. The Yankees are going with 6 starters now and are trying to get down to the 4 best. They want to see if Moose has it for the postseason. Kennedy is a stud but he is a rookie and they want to see if he's the real deal before doing anything to Mussina.

The Yankees believe that Kennedy has a good future ahead of him. However, he has only pitched 19 innings this year and has won a game as well, but you don't put that kind of pressure on a 22 year old kid and expect that he will deliver. Just like most other teams would do, you bring a kid like this along slowly and build his confidence over time. If the Yankees are going to do it this year Mussina and Pettitte will have to step up and get the job done, and that's the way it should be.
