What is the blood tested for that is taken during your 28week check up? I missed mine - and wondering if it is important for the blood to be checked?
Thanks!

It depends on your Dr and your pregnancy. They usually do a glucose screening around that time. They also did a CBC on me to check for anemia and some other blood test to check my liver function. I have had pretty much every blood test they can do.

Generally at 28wks in Aus you have your Glucose test which means you drink a bottle of special fizzy fluid much like lemonade, then wait an hour and they take a blood test. This is to determine if you have or are developing Gestational Diabetes which can have major impacts on mother and baby including very large baby's and all the other risks associated with diabetes. Blood tests at this time are used to check for any other abnormalities that could affect your or the baby.
I would recommend going back to the doctor as soon as you can having the test. Its not fun but very important for you and baby.

Best of luck

I missed the 28 week glucose screening where you drink the sugary drink, and I reminded them when I went at 32 weeks and they just did a random glucose test, where they take 2 tubes of blood and check it.

I'm not sure if they will make me take the glucose screening or not!

congrats by the way

Well they would most likely be wanting to do the gestational diabetes test (I had mine done at about 28ish weeks)
The tests for down syndrome and other birth defects is done before 22 weeks so thats the only one I can think of.
