I have a fake tree..and I love it! But last year I tried to move it when it was dressed.... to a better position and it snapped in half! :(

We used to have artificial each year, but now real trees are a lot more affordable, they do seem to create a more christmassy atmosphere by the way in which they both look and smell.
Dont worry about mess, most trees now are non shedding, and dont go for the first that you see look around to get a good price and if so barter.
And anyway theres nothing wrong with an artificial tree its there for enjoyments ,decoration and to symbolise celebration.
If you've ever watched friends you may of seen an episode where Phobe trys to sell all the old / misshaped trees that no one wants to buy as she feels christmas trees only have one life and if no one buys them they havent fulfilled there christmas destiny.

Real tree -- we go to a local tree farm and cut down our own tree. I always pick a small Charlie Brown looking tree so that I know it has a happy home for the holidays.

Real tree downstairs, fake tree that the kids are allowed to mess with upstairs. It keeps them off of the real tree.

fake tree cause im too lazy for a real tree you have to get a new one every year then there the whole getting rid of it

Real... Part of the holiday season is going out, picking the tree, cutting it, sitting by a fire with some hot coco, getting it home setting it up, inevitability having to trim it cause it's just way to big for the house and the smell and its little imperfections... It's great!!!
