if you have constipation, ayurvedic medicine prescribes eating oils. olive oil is good for this. otherwise taking chinese herbs which moisten the intestines and clear heat are good. better than both of these ideas are finding out what causes the constipation. if you eat a well-thought out diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables you'll most likely find that constipation becomes a thing of the past. you might want to try nuts and seeds as well as they contain natural oils and tend to lubricate the intestines. mostly they are categorized as "cool" foods to alleviate the heat in your digestive tract.

Constipation, I'm learning, is a symptom of a badly functioning colon. It is backed up.

Eat right is the best way... but also I'm learning that an internal cleanse is good to do. I have been doing research.

Here's a web site about a few different cleansing products...

I have been looking at Colonix by DrNatura as it got the highest review from the above site.

Diet. Often people become constipated when they don’t get enough fiber or water in their diets. To counter this, include more high-fiber whole grains, fruits, veggies, and beans in your diet. Aim for at least 25 grams of fiber per day to help keep your gastrointestinal system running smoothly. Fiber may help constipation because it helps hold water in the stool. Also, up your intake of water -- as well as foods high in water content, such as watermelon, tomatoes, and cucumbers -- to help the fiber do its job. Dehydration leads to constipation because the body attempts to gain needed water by drawing too much water out of the stool. Finally, it may help to go easy on cheese, meat, and other foods that are low in fiber.

Exercise. Studies show a higher incidence of constipation in people who don’t exercise enough, so if your intestines feel slow, concentrate on getting the recommended 30 minutes per day on most days of the week.

If you have symptoms of constipation and are concerned about it, take heart. Constipation is rarely the result of serious illness and usually carries no long-term health risks if it’s remedied appropriately. But don’t ignore constipation. If it isn’t remedied, constipation could lead to some unpleasant complications, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or fecal impaction.

I understand what you are talking about, I was there about 3 years ago. I have started to take a holistic supplement from Africa that helps promote intestinal flora, cleaner colon, and a happier disestive system.
Search for African Cures Digestive, it is called Prosit, not Prosac!!

Drink eight glasses of water per day - four in the morning and four in the afternoon. Eat more fruit. Add fibre to your diet (Fibregel is excellent). Stay away from white bread and white products. Take pro-biotics. Good luck!

Besides drinking more water you need to improve your diet.

More fruit and vegies and bread, cereals and muesli and pasta, potatoes and nuts.

Red meat is the worst and can give you cancer and eggs are no good either. Fish is better than chicken.

Simple. Give your body what it wants.... vegetables.

Cut out the meat and dairy. Eat lots of vegetables, get plenty of daily exercise, and keep your weight down. Trust me, it works.
