If there is sugar in your tank, you should suspect the tow truck driver. He is either teasing you or part of a repair scam. As others have said it won't kill your engine, though it can clog a fuel filter.

I have personally seen damage done by contanimanted gasoline three condoms of sugar plus the guy was really pissed. So he also urinated into the tank so did some of his buddys. That was just what the sugar need to get to work it disolved after the latex came apart the fuel pump started to suck in pieces of latex and disolved sugar globbs. After approx $1,000 of fuel injectors fuel pump and good old gas tank clleaning.

J.P. Has the right answer on this one. Sugar is going to clog your fuel pump, fuel filter, and if it makes its way that far your injectors, but as far as engine damage you are fairly safe.

for the engine to 'die' would be an understatement...

sugar is very flammable! so i'm guessing once it gets pushed through the injectors... BANG!! (that is if there is sugar - he was probably taking the p*ss!!)

5 minutes or so depending on how much fuel was in the tank when they put it in the tank...
Hey mythbuster watcher, go outside and pour 5lbs. in your tank...

that's just a myth....you need to watch mythbuster more often.

edit: no you're wrong, guy below me.... sugar can not dissolve in gasoline. so unless you have water in your gas tank, it won't dissolve. you old geezers need to go back to school and take notes in chemistry.
