Phils fans: I'm not trying to upset you_ I really want to know. If SD takes over the top spot from Arizona does it mean that Arizona will then become the NL Wild Card top spot because the Arizona percentage is better than the Phillies' percentage?

the 3 division leaders will go to the post season.
After that, the team with the best record will be the wild card team

Yep, that's how it works.

Think of it as two "separate" races:
1) the race for the Division Championship.
2) the race for the Wild Card spot.

The Division leader is that...he's safe as long as he maintains that lead.

The Wild Card spot is then the battle for the team with the best won/lost record (the winning percentage) of all the other teams once all the games have been played.

So, at this moment Arizona is the Western Division leader with a record of 84-67 (.556) with San Diego one game behind at second place in the Western Division with a record of 82-67 (.550).

That means that now the second place team and lower in (any) Division (includes San Diego and the Phillies) is vying for that Wild Card spot...with San Diego leading right now with their .550 winning percentage, followed by the Phillies
1 1/2 games behind at .540 and the Dodgers in third place with a .530 winning percentage.

As the number of games left dwindles lower (about 12 left?) and the races get even tighter, it becomes SO important to win each and every game.

Like the saying goes: "it's coming down to the wire".
