It looks like the old Clinton catchphrase:
'It's the economy,stupid'
was absolutely and utterly correct.
And I must admit I really enjoy the frantic and pathetic efforts
of some lemmings who immediately do their utmost to slander and discredit him for not following the exactly defined
proscribed party line.
With friends like that...who needs enemies ?.
Edit : I must make clear I'm European , and a dirty pinko leftie
as well so I am off the political map when it comes to the
mainstream American Spectrum.
I am definitely no great fan of either Reps or Dems as I consider both parties to be spineless populist partisan vote grabbers.
No sympathy for Greenspan whatsoever, but his expertise and knowledge in financial/ economic matters is undisputed.
When Greenspan speaks on these issues, the world listens!

Greenspan's criticism of Bush does not surprise me at all. Many conservative commentators have been very critical of G Dub's reckless spending. This is just the first in a long line of respected conservatives that will line up to call this President the worst in modern times.
Greenspan's praise of Clinton surprises me a little but shouldn't given the Clinton economic policies. Clinton surrounded himself with good advisors on the issue and actually listened to them instead of the voices in his head.
It is amusing to me how the Bushies are lining up to try to discredit a conservative icon of the 80's and 90's. Notice that no one presents any facts to refute anything Greenspan has said, they just try to attack him personally.

I'm not a Clinton basher, but I'd say Greenspan's criticism is too little and too late. Where was he when he could have had a great deal of influence on Bush's irresponsible fiscal and monetary policies? With the Bushites. And now, he's making millions off his cowardice and misjudgment.

"that all the Republicans could do in an attempt to slime Clinton, was to make a big deal out of the Monica Lewinsky thing." It was a big deal, please. He committed perjury, that is correct, because he lied under oath. But the important question is what did he lied about? Watergate, Iran-contra, the death 3000 Americans, outing a CIA agent for retribution.. or some intern giving him a *******? its irrelavent. Its mud slinging. If He is that bad, why didnt the Republicans come up with a better impeachment case? " It is for forbidden territory. To discuss Clinton, to them, is to dwell on the past- which has no relevancy to the world today, and is a smoke screen not to look at the failures of GWB" It is a SMOKE SCREEN. "That is very odd that the Left disdains looking at the past, since it seems apt for them to discuss and have (fake) documentaries and such on Bush's Vietnam service, on Prescott Bush, on the president's past driving record or drug use." Wow.. Show me 1 evidence he served in Vietnam Didnt he said it himself he use marijuana back then? And past driving records? why would dems want to fake that?? "One could be rich if they had a nickel for every time the war is compared to Vietnam by them, and hearing of certain Democrat's war service" Yes some are VERY rich because of this war. This war is vietnam because its a civil war. Vietnam was vietkong vs North Vietnamese, now is Shiites vs Sunnis, which side are we going to pick and armed this time? Its a quagmire. Which Democrat are you talking about? John Kerry? Murtha? or Dick Cheney? "Liberals are fond to cite the golden age of Clinton at every opportunity, but will not tolerate any discussion of their former commander-in-chief that is not controlled strictly by them. Why?" Its mostly mud slinging and idiotic comments.

Believe me, Greenspan is not sticking up for Clinton. I don't know how it could have been missed by your obvious eagle-eyed observational abilities but Greenspan also clarified his remarks in an interview with Matt Lauer. You just got it wrong.

Greenspan is obviously trying to drum up sales for his recently-released book.
Controversy sells, even the baseless accusation variety

first its called a PROMOTIONAL TOUR for a reason, hes promoting a book. next he was there in the carter years with 20 percent inflation....HELLOOOOOOO""". and finally anyone who praises clinton for anything clearly is not examining what happened in the white house then
- The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance
- Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates*
- Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
- Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
- Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
- First president sued for sexual harassment.
- First president accused of rape.
- First first lady to come under criminal investigation
- Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
- First president to establish a legal defense fund.
- First president to be held in contempt of court
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
- Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
- First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court
im comforted that at least he doesnt embrace the pelosi spin toward socialism but you need not try to read things into a promotional tour that simply arent there.
