Why are black so violent?

The FBI Uniform Crime Report (also available at the FBI site listed above) makes a number of disturbing points: In 1995, Blacks accounted for 13% of the population; Amerinds for 2%, and Mexicans, Whites and all others (the FBI even includes Arabs as Whites) 85%. If the races were equal in their criminal behavior, then it could reasonably be expected that for any given category of crime, 85% of those arrested would be White and 13% of those arrested would be Black.

But that is not what is found in the FBI Uniform Crime Report.

Under the crime of burglary, 30.4% of arrestees are Black and 67.8% are White. The Black burglary rate 30.4 over 13, divided by the White burglary rate of 67.8 over 85, gives a figure of 2.93.

If these arrest records accurately record the commission of burglaries, that means that Blacks commit burglary at almost 3 times the rate of Whites.

Using the same methodology, the figures other crimes can also be broken down:

* Weapons violations are committed by Blacks at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;
* Blacks are caught receiving or buying stolen property at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;
* Blacks are involved in prostitution at almost 4 times the rate for Whites;
* Blacks are arrested for drug crimes at over 4 times the rate for Whites;
* Blacks are more than three times as likely as Whites to be caught at forgery, counterfeiting, and fraud, and almost three times as likely to be caught at embezzlement;
* Blacks are more than 3 times as likely to be thieves as Whites;
* Blacks are more than 4 times as likely to commit assault as Whites;
* Blacks are almost 4.5 times as likely to steal a motor vehicle;
* Blacks are more than 5 times as likely to commit forcible rape as Whites;
* Blacks are over 8 times as likely to commit murder as Whites;
* Blacks are more than 10 times as likely to commit robbery as Whites;
* Nearly 25% of all Black males between the ages of 20 and 29 are in jail or on probation - this does not include those wanted or awaiting trial;
* For all violent crimes considered together, Blacks are almost 5.5 times more likely to commit violent criminal acts than Whites; all this according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report.

When a society deems one group to be of less worth than other groups, the people who are considered to be inferior are offered menial work (if any work at all) with poor wages; substandard health care; poor, ghetto-like housing; substandard - if any - education and little or no opportunity to better themselves. Such environments tend to breed a dog-eat-dog society, until some individuals begin to gang together to survive as a group. Those who keep them in poverty are viewed as their oppressors. What begins as survival develops into a culture and lifestyle as it's the best many of these people can hope to acheive.

Now, that sounds very much like black culture.

BUT ...
Take the figures for white crime and take a look at where these people live. You will probably find that these people live in areas where there is high unemployment; little or no education; poor health care; squalid housing and little or no chance to move out of that poverty trap.

OK, so you can counter that by saying, 'Well look at places like Jamaica and Africa? Both places are very violent and there are high levels of crime, rape, murder - even repeated acts of genocide in some parts of Africa.'.

I agree.

It also happened in Europe for hundreds of years. And the new West was a hive of villainy, murder, theft, etc. But in Europe, we had crops, trade and economy. These things made the lives of most Europeans better. And with this came education, better housing, better health care. White people lived in a different world to black people and that is how our world has evolved. Yet even in Victorian times, crime was still a big problem. The poor parts of London were not full of black people, but white people and it was full of crime. Only with education for all and jobs for everyone did things change. In areas that were slow to improve the lifestyles of the poor, crime was still rife.

Black crime statistics are a reflection of how our society has treated some of it's people. Crime by black or white is not OK, but it will continue until the people in these areas have the oportunities to better thermselves. Even then, things will not change for a generation or two, because the lifestyle has now become ingrained into those sections of society - black and white - but they came about due to set circumsances and they will change again due to new circumstances.

Some people will choose to view this as a racist question. Instead, I think it's a good oportinity to open up debate about something most people decide to shy away from unless they want to just get into name-calling.

This is a painful question and there is some truth in it. Black children who did not do well at school blamed the white teachers for favouritism, but when the Asians came the black children were still the bottom of the class. I think that they do not have a good tight family culture and the Black father is often missing and promiscuous. I am very sorry for the black children because they have very poor role models and family stability. Where they have a stable home life they perform and certainly behave like all the other progressive children. People of any colour who are underachievers tend to turn to violence which is because they cannot compete. VIOLENCE IS THE FIRST ACT OF THE INCOMPETENT.

While the statistics cannot be ignored, and in the end the responsibility lies with the criminal, there is a vicious cycle wherein a large portion of the black population is downtrodden and impoverished and often times turns to crime. This is exasperated by the glorification of the thug mentality in every aspect of our culture today.

Traditionally, the social and economic opportunities in the US have been limited for non whites. Any job prospects available seem to be streelined by race (Hm, need a maid - mexican, need a labourer - black, skilled work - white.

This is an observation of a non American - me.

Since employment and career oportunities are so limited and your general level of education, especially for ethnic groups, is so poor, the only option for many is crime.

Also, you do not have true social integration. Just look at the social separatism in New York. Your society is separated into distinct, separate groups. You also have a classist society in all but name.

Have you never heard of WW1 and WW2 both predominately white men's wars in which unprecedented numbers of civilians and soldiers were killed culminating in the destruction of two cities by atomic bombs to create another record for the number of people killed by one weapon.
I think the blacks have got a lot of catching up to do
