Wow. There is a huge difference in the answers you got, and the difference is in the reasoning given by men vs the answers by women.

And my answer is- I was going to repeat something taught in school, which was along the lines of protecting and promoting social and genetic standards. It made a lot of sense and it was not emotion based.

If marraige has never been invented, we would have done so. Why? it celebrates. Life is a tedious journey between birth and death. Good memories see us through the nasty parts of life. Weddings make good memories.

I would say the best reason to get married is because you love someone and want to commit to having a life together.Living together without marriage is ok,but being married is more moral.

I imagine it will vary from person to person, just like the meaning of life is self determined. Personally I am married but I don't need the approval of state or church over the love or life I share with another human being.

There are no good reasons. Marriage is an antiquated notion that causes more harm than good.

My husband. My wife. These are statements of possession. We don't own one another.

Some couples are incompatible and should separate. The notion of one relationship for the rest of one's life is rather foolish on a variety of fronts.

The perfece reason is to protect yourself from doing "things not acceptabe". It's also about the human nature and marriage is about sharing and that's what man needs when he grow up, a shoulder he can lay on it when he's lost or tired or something

Marriage fulfils four legitimate basic objectives of nature and society according to Hindus, called "Purusharthas" in Sanskrit meaning "objectives of human birth". They are "Dharma" right action or righteousness, "Artha" right lively hood of economic activity, "Kama" natural desire for enjoyment and passion and "Moksha" attainment of oneness with the creator by braking free from the cycle of birth and death. if you have kids, they'll be much better off being raised in a loving family environment. it will instill a bit of morality within them that might not develop otherwise.
