I am American, so don't know how English do it. I know how to insert £ in the Works program (I don't have Word on computer.)

In Works, select Insert, Special Character, then pick the one you want. British Pound Symbol £16 for example. § ¨ © Ô Ó ¼ ½ ¾ ¶ ~ are a few of the other things you can insert. Spanish symbols and Greek are there. Maybe the English have the pound key on their keyboards.

On my keyboard that is above the variety 3. The dollar sign is subsequent to it above the 4. you won't be able to be British? No-guy or woman who replaced into might even think of to describe it as a "funky little "L" image"!
