If it were a stranger, I would hit them back as hard as I could. I am getting older so every hit would have to count,I may not have enough energy to go for the long haul.
Edit: Back in the 1960's,my parents went out for a few drinks at a bar in S. Cal.When they were in the parking lot ready to leave, they stole a kiss with each other. Out of the blue, some guy turns my step-dad around and punched him in the eye,my mom didn't ask any questions, she just jumped on the guys back and started to pound him hard.All 5'4" of her middle-aged self.They guy appolgized,saying he t hought my mom was his wife and she was out with someone else.
My step-dad had a black eye ,I bet the guy looked even worst!

Question is do I know the person who slaps me in public? He wouldn't do that without a reason, but if he did slap me for no apparent reason he just feel like doing the act what kind of person is the guy/girl?
To be slap in public for no apparent reason by a person you do not even know, is not a question of why he did it but a question of what kind of person he/she is?
How would I react to the situation is that it would make me feel mad, angry at the person, but to slap the person back would , even if I do not know the person would only make me stoop down to his/her level.
Maybe it would be best to ignore the person , or talk to someone in uniform and tell him about what's going on. He would help you in knowing the guy/girl, the reasons for slapping you in public , or if something is going on with his/her thinking.
Other than that ignore and avoid the person.......Well, that is only an opinion as it is not really clear if the person who slaps in the face is someone that I know.......

If a woman did it probably nothing unless if she was a real ***** and I did not deserve it.
If a guy did it I would kick him where it hurts and swear and carry on like hell and wack him in the head..

Slap that person back - twice as hard.
Pull that person's hair.
Kick that person.
And tell that person never to be so rude again.

you closed fist punch them in the nose as hard as you can in a direct pointed shot, don't do a haymaker or a side shot or it can be blocked.
