The inside wall is drywall and I have cedar shingle siding on the outside. The hole in the wall is approximately 2' x 11/2'.

frame it in with 2x4,s insulate it,
drywall the inside, cover out side with plywood and shingle over it,

how about glass block? It will insulate the hole well and you won't have to try to match the exisiting siding, plus it will give you a little more natural light.

They are pretty simple to install...most home improvement stores have "how to" books on doing it.

The home depot sells a cover 4 it...fill in w/ insulation n then place thew cover. A nice small wine rack would b nice 2 have there...if u use ur imagination....
