i'd started lifting heavy weights in the gym at the age of 13, a little after my menstrual cycles had begun. at that time it was a regular one month cycle. after around a year, i stopped going to the gym, and lifting weights, after which my menstrual cycles have been extremely irregular, occuring just around once in eight months or so, and then lasting for around two weeks. i was first told to 'wait and watch' for it to regulate itself. since that did not happen, i was then told to exercise evry day- any form of exercise- cardio, aerobics, and so on. for the past one year i have notices that whenever i introduce a new exercise regime, my menstrual cycles occur in around two weeks. if i continue with a strict everyday regime, the cycles occur once a month, but even a slight slack in exercise, like not working out for one week, is enough to throw the whole thing out of sync again. i have been exercising around thrice a week for the past month, but have not had my period this month

Sometimes doing too much exercise can cause the periods to be irregular, but I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation because a hormone imbalance such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome can cause the periods to be irregular.

Bottom line kiddo, you really should be talking to a gynecologist. If you already are seeing one, time to find a new one.

There are so many factors that could be causing this... some serious, some not.

Make sure at your next appointment you ask for an ultrasound (by probe. Its okay, it doesnt hurt) and a complete blood work up.

Good luck!

See a doctor. It could be a hormonal imbalance if it isn't just that your body is still adjusting. Every female is different. See your gyn and express your concerns. He or she will be able to help.
