Yes, it really does protect against pregnancy. I've met several women that have tried it and liked it other than the problem with weight gain.
As for the mood swings and depression ask your doctor about trying B6 in either a bottle by itself or as part of a bottle of B Complex. I have found this helpful for when I get mood swings.
One other thing that Depo-Provera has been known to do to some women (met a few that this happened to as well) is that it caused their bones to have problems with osteoporosis because of not having the estrogen needed to keep things in balance when it comes to hormones.

Yes it prevents pregnancy but this is one of the WORST birth control forms that you can use. You will gain massive amounts of weight (that will stay on long after you stop taking the shot), the mood swings will drive not only you nuts but the people around you....
I have never heard of a good experience with the depo shot.

I got prego on the shot... but that was only because I was taking antibiotics with it... .Ususally the shot will prevent you from getting prego for a couple months..... IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE WOMAN. Just take a prego test if your worried. It's normal to spot, Since your frist shot was in Jan your body is probably gettin used to it still. The depo shot is good for three months as you know... It's normal to spot when you decide to get off it too... When I miss a shot.. I bleed for a couple weeks..

Simple, DO NOT take this shot!
It is 99% effective, you CAN get pregnant on depo.
Depression and mood swings, I had them, BAD!
I took it for four years and I am so glad I am off of that shot.
TOO many women have very serious side affects and health risks because of this shot.
PLEASE research it before you get it. Google "depo provera lawsuit" and check out the reviews in the link below.
I would not recommend this to anyone.

do not get on depo. Studies have shown it causes bone loss at a young age, and when you finally want to get pregnant...when you come off of it you have a higher rate of having a miscarriage. Try the Nuva Ring....or an IUD.
