Before you ask, yes i gave up smoking. Cold turkey after 16 or so years of doing so.

I find it funny the reasons people give me for not quitting (not that i ask but they feel compelled to tell me when they know i gave up)....

P.S thank you for your encouragement, although i have been a non-smoker for 5 years now and not looking back! ;) and still getting excuses as well! lol.

This is the one I like best of all: "I could give up any time I like if I felt like it" - of course that's code for "I can't or won't give up". Giving up smoking is one of the best things that you could do in your life. Well done.

My mother's excuse was that it was the only pleasure she had in life - what a waste.

My sister's excuse: "I won't be smoking when I'm 40."

How does she know that? She started when she was 15 (she's 16 now), and most of the people that I know that started at that age are still smoking 30 years later.

If I give up smoking I will eat too much and be just like YOU...(did I volunteer during some drinking binge as a poster child for not quitting?)

Congrats for you giving up. I use the excuse, everyone is going to die, it just depends on their time, but I'm just a creature of habit and to lazy to give up.

I haven't quit.... And my excuse is that I'm addicted. I've tried quitting a couple times.

Having said that, please make sure you don't turn into one of "those people"... Smokers couldn't care less that you quit, and especially don't need to hear about it when they're in a designated smoking area enjoying a cigarette.

My answer is this:
I have way worse habits than smokin cigarrettes... How bout I stop shooting up heroine, smoking crack, drinking alcohol when I wake up in the morning, then we'll stop about the no smoking thing.

I'm too old to give up now or I'll gain weight if I quit.

Life is too short.
I heard lots of people say this, and I think its BS. Anyways wish you luck on trying to quit. God bless you.

With a cigarette I feel less lonely.
And its upper, and I have low blood presure.
And every time I quit it, I get fat.
And I like hazards :D
