Without seeing pictures it's very difficult for anyone to give you a good answer. A lot depends on the condition of your coin. My local coin dealer will pay 2 cents per wheat penny.
1 - Take your coin to a local coin dealer (trustworthy ones can be found - shop around, get second opinions). It never hurts to get a second opinion. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.
2 - Try posting pictures on this website (there are many experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

3 - Repost this question and include pictures. You can use websites like photobucket.com and include the link in your question.
Good luck!
P.S. Do not clean your coin as this can drastically effect the value.

It's one of the last "wheat cents" -- a common coin, not worth more than a few cents because so many were made.
But hey, it's a wheat cent. Those haven't been made since 1958. So they aren't often found in change anymore. I'd keep it around just 'cause its different.
Here's my page on "rare wheat pennies" which has a bit more information about this type:

a negative amount of money - 1 cent minus however much money your time is worth that you spent asking this question. - so it's probably worth less than 0 because your time is valuable.

you should pass it down to the next member of your family and keep it til it's worth billions =D. But some people might be willing to pay more than 3 cents (I thought it'd be more) because they want to keep it and pass it down to the next generation themselves and help make their children billionaires =D.
