I've noticed that Appalachian State has been recieving points on the NCAA top 25 poll, rating them today (9-17) somewhere in the #30-35 range.

Assuming they win out, could Appalachian State decide to accept an invitation to the Motor City bowl, or some other lesser bowl game, forgo the monthlong I-AA playoff and get the guaranteed money instead of the mere chance of winning the big money on the I-AA stage.

I understand that Appalachian State is in another division, but does that REALLY disqualify them from playing in a bowl game?

I sure know that the Motor City Bowl would be dying for more viewers and Appalachian State will bring just that.

they are in the Championship Series,,, not the Bowl series,,, do not think that they can accept an invitation,,, however things could change for that,,,,, seeing as how they are now getting ratings from coaches for the Top 25

Yeah, i like your idea too, it would be great to see them in 1A bowl game, but the fact is, they have to stick with the 1AA playoff system format and the 1A bowl game wouldn't invite them anyway because of the tied to a 1AA playoff situation. But man it would be good to see them beat another 1A team.

Believe me, as two-time 1AA defending national champions, they would MUCH rather go for a third than play in an unprestigious 1A bowl.

Uh...Yeah, being in the other division disqualifies them, since they have to participate in the I-AA playoff system...
