I have a fashion-disaster-themed day coming up for school, and I'm stumped at dressing like a disaster. I don't want to look too bad to the point of looking repulsive. Any suggestions? How about socks with sandals? XD

Socks with sandals are good. So are clashing patterns, "mom jeans," anything with applique or sequins. If you don't own anything that works (like something Grandma gave you that you stashed in the back of the closet) then try your local thrift stores to find craptastic clothing.

Dress like an anachronism. A halter top and elephant-leg pants a la 1970's. Rip up a tshirt, wear it with a lace slip, hot pink fishnets and lacy wristlet gloves like Madonna in the early 80s. Go geek-chic with thick-rimmed glasses (the larger the better) or better yet, see if you can find a replica of that disaster of a dress Molly Ringwald's character wore to her prom in Pretty in Pink.

I like jellybeanchick's answer: mom jeans, appliquéd sweat shirts, (sequins not optional!) sock and sandals, that's the antithesis of everything that's chic and fashionable, and quite likely available at any thrift shop. And don't forget the bright coloured polyester stretch pants with the stitched down crease in the pant leg!
